Clapton Park URC

fEAST is the evening congregation of Clapton Park URC church. We meet in the Old School Rooms of the Round Chapel, Powerscroft Road, E5, London at 7pm every second and last Sunday of the month . Visitors and newbies are welcome at any time, but some services are even better for newcomers than others so we suggest you read about the programme and the theme structure if coming for the first time - see links to the left. We are approximately in the 'alt.worship' tradition, but place more of an emphasis on community and less of an emphasis on technology than some alt.worship groups.

We seek to be a Christian community that provides the opportunity to learn, be inspired and nourished in an atmosphere of intimacy and vulnerability.

We also seek to be a space for creative worship, where everyone can talk freely and a place where people receive support for their daily lives.

We want to be encouraged to be active in our community and beyond, being committed to the principles of justice and peace.

We don't want to forget the need to be made uncomfortable by the gospel of Jesus.

The word fEAST means abundance and of course also refers to a sumptuous meal. But the concept of fEAST is also bound into our relationship to God and the body of Christ. It emphasises the physical and spiritual elements of our worship and faith, and the gifts of hospitality, community, creativity and celebration. Incorporating the word 'east' also relates to our geographical community of E5. It also reminds us of the need to be a community of intercessors, engaging with non-western perspectives of the world, and reflecting upon the broken world of hunger, poverty and injustice where many do not experience the elements of the rich feast of privilege, wealth and freedom.

fEAST believes strongly in collective leadership. All regular members of fEAST are encouraged to take part in all aspects of running the services.
