At fEAST, we take a theme and explore it in depth for two months, so we start a new theme at the beginning of January, March, May, July, September and November. During the two months, we explore the theme through creative liturgy and through discussion. Each week is led by a different member of fEAST (it's voluntary!), and we aren't led by a minister or pastor like most churches are. Past themes have included 'Shalom', 'Politics, Ethics and Morality', 'Happiness', 'Work and Faith', and 'Worship: Discipline and Wonder', so you see we range all over...

If coming for the first time, we'd recommend coming to the first Sunday of a theme (ie the first Sundays of January, March, May, July, September or November), which will often include a guest speaker; the last Sunday of the second month (a creative 'big service' to round off the theme; the closest we come to traditional alt.worship); or the last Sunday of the first month, which is a communion service. Other weeks will vary a lot according to who's leading them, and usually be a little more low-key. But of course, you'd be very welcome at any time.

When there's a fifth Sunday in the month, we'll add some extra service depending on what we feel like doing. (The extra service won't actually be on the 5th Sunday; we try to keep it predictable that either communion or the big fEAST happens on the last Sunday of the month to make things simpler)

It's not actually as complex as it sounds!

The general structure of a theme is:

Week 1
Word service
The theme of the two months will be introduced with space for discussion. There will often be a guest speaker.

Weeks 2 and 3
We continue reflection and discussion on the theme. The evening normally includes a short worship element.

Week 4
Communion
A communion service expressing the ideas we've been exploring in the theme. The service usually ends with a meal.

Weeks 5, 6 and 7
Reflection and discussion continue.

Week 8
Big fEAST
The whole theme is summed up in a creative celebratory service!
